Since 2016, the New River Valley Regional Commission has been hosting local and state government representatives, businesses, university educators, student groups, advocacy groups, and the public, in conversations about our watershed.

 

Our Meetings

Quarterly meetings are open to the public and typically held at the New River Valley Business Center, 6580 Valley Center Dr. in the New River Room. Please join us to learn more about local watershed efforts and share your ideas.

What We've Achieved

  • Hosted and promoted dozens of clean-up events around the New River Valley.

  • Engaged over 2,000 volunteers.

  • Removed over 1,200 bags of trash and 850 tires from our watershed, totaling 26 tons of debris, over 50 miles of road and river front.

  • Engaged with localities, outfitters, businesses, non-profits, community groups and citizens to promote watershed stewardship.

  • Participated in a regional Systems Thinking Workshop in order to increase collaboration and action.

  • Worked with the New River Conservancy to improve the Water Watcher Program, a local water quality monitoring effort.

  • Distributed 1000s of doggie waste bags in an effort to mitigate non-point source pollution.

  • Supported the #trashtagnrv campaign.
